Breastfeeding with Neurodiversity

Read this page in Welsh (Cymraeg)

Every family’s experience of breastfeeding is different, and we understand that neurodivergent mums, parents and children may need more or a different approach to support. Our goal is to create an environment where neurodivergent parents feel understood, supported and empowered on their breastfeeding journey.

We focus on parent-centred support, listening and understanding what matters to you, and supporting you to make your own choices about how you feed your baby. When supporting in person, our peer supporters offer hands-off support using demonstration dolls, knitted breasts, and diagrams or videos, where available.

If you need information on any medication you may need to take while breastfeeding, you can find out more about our Drugs in Breastmilk Service, here. We also have a factsheet on ADHD and Breastfeeding.

You may also like to read our blog posts on ADHD and Breastfeeding, Breastfeeding If You Are On The Autistic Spectrum and Six ways health professionals and peer supporters can help Autistic women meet their breastfeeding goals.
