1 – Thursday, 17th September 10am-12pm (virtual)
2 – Thursday, 24th September, 10am-12pm (in-person in Matlock)
3 – Thursday, 1st October, 10am-12pm (virtual)
4 – Thursday, 8th October, 10am-12pm (in-person in Matlock)
5 – Thursday, 15th October, 10am-12pm (virtual)
6 – Thursday, 22nd October, 10am-12pm (virtual)
-Break for half term-
7 – Thursday, 5th November, 10am-12pm (virtual)
8 – Thursday, 12th November, 10am-12.30pm* (in-person in Matlock)
9 – Thursday, 19th November, 10am-12pm (virtual)
10 – Thursday, 26th November, 10am-12pm (virtual)
11 – Thursday, 3rd December, 10am-12pm (virtual)

*Please note this session is longer than the others

Assignments to be completed by: 10th December 2026

Course venue: Eight sessions taught virtually and three sessions in Matlock at Church in the Peak

Closing date for applications: 23rd June 2026

Proposed interview date (if applicable): Wednesday, 8th July 10am-11am

DBS/PVG required: Yes (BfN will arrange this at no cost to volunteers)

Course information: The “Group Host” course is a prerequisite for the Helper course. The Group Host course is split into two parts as follows:

Attendance a minimum of one face-to-face session at a local group of your choice to shadow the volunteers there.

An online course that you work through at your own pace, completing quizzes as you go. We expect the online part to take around 1.5 hours to complete.
