Course information: We are training volunteers to become Breastfeeding peer support volunteers, offering vital encouragement and practical support to families across Enfield. The course covers the essentials of listening and communication, understanding infant feeding, and building confidence in supporting parents. Participants will also learn how to share accurate breastfeeding information, signpost families to trusted local services, and create a welcoming, non-judgemental environment for parents and carers. The training is free for volunteers and you will gain a nationally recognised OCN accredited qualification.

Who Can Apply:
Anyone living in Enfield or bordering the  surrounding areas who has an interest in supporting families with Breastfeeding. Parents and carers who have personal experience of breastfeeding and would like to support others. Volunteers keen to give back to their community, particularly in areas of higher need e.g. Ponders End Youth and Family Hub, Craig Park Youth and Family Hub and Eldon Family Hub. No prior qualifications required — just a willingness to listen, learn, and commit time to the training and volunteer role. Additional language speakers welcomed

Additional Requirements for Enfield Helpers:

Willingness to volunteer in specific settings, such as a particular ward, Family Hub, or community group, depending on service needs. Ability to commit to agreed shifts or sessions to ensure consistent support for families. Adherence to any site-specific policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements. Participation in occasional team meetings or briefings as required by the service. Flexibility to assist with setup, activities, or events within the agreed volunteering role. Flexible, based on availability and community activities schedule. A minimum of 4 hours per month.

Childcare: If attending the training face-to-face, helpers are responsible for arranging their own childcare. Breastfeeding infants and toddlers welcomed at training sessions under your supervision.
