Assignments to be completed by: 10/12/2024

Course venue: Zoom with an online training module plus 2 sessions in person at St Thomas Children’s Centre, Bell Barn Road, Lee Bank, Birmingham, B15 2AF.

For the in person sessions on 5/11/24 and 26/11/24: There is parking available at the venue. Please be aware that this venue is inside the Birmingham clean air zone. The centre is a 10 minute walk from Five Ways train station. The centre is a 15 minute walk from the Brindley Place tram station located on Broad Street. You can catch the 8A inner circle bus, getting off at Lee Crescent, followed by a 5 minute walk.

Reasonable travel expenses for the face-to-face training sessions may be covered with prior agreement from the Service Manager.

Closing date for applications: 13/08/2024

Proposed interview date (if applicable): There will be an informal group interview/information session w/c 19th August 2024

DBS/PVG required: Yes (BfN will arrange this at no cost to volunteers)

Course information:
The Breastfeeding Network is training a cohort of peer support volunteers to support families across Birmingham, at community venues, Children’s Centres and on hospital maternity wards.

We are keen to ensure the volunteers represent the local population so encourage applications from people who speak other languages – please include detail in your application if this applies to you.

Following completion of the training and registration with the Breastfeeding Network, volunteers will be expected to commit to regular volunteering for a period of at least one year.

Priority will be given to Birmingham residents.
