Course Title: Helpers (Lewisham & Greenwich)

Number of places available: 24 (2 cohorts of 12)

Course start date: 06/03/2024 (Wednesday group) / 07/03/2024 (Thursday group)

Course end date: 02/05/2024

Day and time of sessions: Wednesday or Thursdays 10am-12pm (applicants to commit to one group for the full course). 7 weeks, 2 hours per week online training session plus 2 hours of independent learning per week on the BfN online training platform. Please indicate which day’s group(s) you are applying for in your application:

DBS required: Yes (BfN will arrange this at no cost to volunteers)

Course information:
This course will recruit and train a cohort of Breastfeeding Network peer support volunteers supporting families within Lewisham and Greenwich.

Following completion of the training and registration with the Breastfeeding Network, volunteers will be expected to offer at least 4 hours a month supporting at groups in Children’s Centres or alongside Health Visiting and Midwifery.

Please indicate in your application which area/areas you would be able volunteer in: 

  • Lewisham
  • Greenwich

We are running two training courses at the same time. The day you are allocated is the day you must attend the training session each week (dates are listed above).  Please indicate if you are able to do:

  • Wednesdays 10-12
  • Thursdays 10-12
  • Either day

Following completion of training and registration with the Breastfeeding Network, volunteers will be expected to volunteer at least 4 hours a month within peer support groups either in Lewisham or Greenwich.  To maintain registration with the Breastfeeding Network volunteers must attend regular supervision sessions and complete mandatory training as required.
