Helper2024/25 Dorset

Course Title: Helpers (Dorset)

Number of places available: 12

Course start date: 14/12/2023, afternoon (Informal group discussion and introductory call) with course starting 11/01/2024, 12:30-2:30pm

Course end date: 28/03/2024

Day and time of sessions: 2 hours a week for 12 weeks, on Thursdays 12:30-2:30pm

Assignments to be completed by: 28/03/2024

Course venue: Online (Zoom) with one in person session on 21/03/2024 from 11am-2pm in a central location TBC.

Closing date for applications: 05/12/2023

Proposed interview date (if applicable): 14/12/2023 online (Zoom) for one hour at either 12:30pm or 1:30pm depending on numbers.

DBS required: Yes (BfN will arrange this at no cost to volunteers)

Course information:
BfN Dorset is are looking for volunteers to train as BfN Helpers (peer supporters). This is a 12 week course delivered mostly over Zoom with a shadowing week (week commencing 4th March) and an in person session on 21st March (central location TBC).

We are particularly seeking trainees who will be able to volunteer in the following areas and days:

  • Weymouth (Mondays at present but other availability considered)
  • Bovington/Wareham (Fridays at present but other availability considered)
  • Blandford (Fridays)
  • Somerford (Tuesdays)
  • Boscombe (Thursdays)

Applications from other nearby areas are welcomed and may also be considered but these areas are our priority at the moment to support existing groups and establish new groups in our target areas.
