Course Reference: Helper2023/23

Course Title: Derbyshire Helpers 

Number of places available: 12

Course start date: 10/01/2023

Course end date: 18/04/2023

Day and time of sessions: Tuesdays 12.30-2.30pm as below

  • Zoom week 1 – 10th Jan
  • Zoom week 2 – 17th Jan
  • Zoom week 3 – 31st Jan
  • Zoom week 4 – 14th Feb
  • Zoom week 5 – 28th Feb
  • Zoom week 6 – 14th March
  • Week 7 – 28th March – hopefully face to face, venue TBC
  • Zoom week 8 – 18th April

There will be work to complete and group discussion in the weeks between Zoom sessions on the BfN training site

Duration: 2 hours per week on either Zoom or online BfN training site

Assignments to be completed by: 18/04/2023

Course venue: Online (Zoom) for most sessions, with one face to face session – hopefully 28th March at a Derbyshire venue – to be agreed with Trainees once the course starts.

Closing date for applications: 22/11/2022

Proposed information session date (if applicable): Tuesday 29th Nov 2pm-3pm 

DBS required: Yes (BfN will arrange this at no cost to volunteers)

Course information (please read this section carefully before applying):
Geographical Priority Areas: Volunteers must be able to regularly attend breastfeeding support groups in Derbyshire with a minimum 1 year commitment following the training course.

  • Eckington Children’s Centre, Tuesday mornings
  • Bolsover Children’s Centre, Friday mornings
  • Staveley Healthy Living Centre, Friday mornings
  • Heanor Library (moving to Heanor Children’s Centre), Tuesday mornings
  • Alfreton Children’s Centre, Thursday mornings
  • New Mills Revive Church, Monday mornings
  • Chesterfield St. Helena Campus, University of Derby, Thursday mornings
  • Ashbourne Library, Friday afternoons
  • Ockbrook Chatterbox Baby and Toddler Group, Friday mornings
  • Belper Early Years Centre, Friday afternoons
  • Repton Village Hall Play Group, Wednesday mornings

Applicants must have completed, or be in the process of working through the ‘BfN Derbyshire Group Host Training’ course before applying for the Helper course.  If you have not yet completed this course please complete this form Register your interest to train as a volunteer with the Breastfeeding Network Derbyshire (office.com) to arrange whilst you continue with your Helper course application.

It would be useful for you to have attended as a parent or visited a Breastfeeding Group before you apply to train so you can get a feel for what our volunteers do – details of our local groups can be found here – https://linktr.ee/bfn_derbyshire
