Course Title: Helper2026/15

Number of places available: 12

Course start date: Intro call – Tuesday 16th September 2025, 6.30-7.30pm

Week 1 – 6.30pm – 8.30pm Tuesday 23rd September 2025

Course end date: Tuesday 16th December 2025

Day and time of sessions: Tuesdays 6.30-8.30pm

Assignments to be completed by: 31st January 2026

Course venue: Weekly on Zoom with in person sessions for PSRs on 25th November and 9th December 2025 at venues in Sandwell TBC.

Closing date for applications: Tuesday 2nd September 2025

Proposed interview date (if applicable): Group interview via Zoom 5th – 12th Sept TBC

DBS/PVG required: Yes (BfN will arrange this at no cost to volunteers)

Course information: We are training a cohort of Breastfeeding Network peer support volunteers to support families across Sandwell, at community venues, Family Hubs and on the maternity ward at MMUH Hospital.

We are keen to ensure the volunteers represent the local population so encourage applications from people who speak other languages – please include detail in your application if this applies to you. Following completion of the training and registration with the Breastfeeding Network, volunteers will be expected to commit to regular volunteering for a period of at least one year.

• Community group – Tipton
• Community group – Rowley Regis/Cradley Heath
• Community group – Great Barr
• Community group – Wednesbury
• Community group – Smethwick
• Community group – Oldbury
• Community group – West Bromwich
• Walking group – Sandwell Valley
• Walking group – Wednesbury
• Virtual support (drop-in groups and antenatal sessions on Zoom)
• Maternity ward at Midland Met Hospital
• Supporting in-person Antenatal Workshops (various venues across Sandwell)
• Other – attending events, admin, language skills
If the course is over-subscribed, priority will be given to applicants from West Brom/Tipton/Oldbury areas and those who speak additional languages.
