Course information:
We are looking to train BfN Helper volunteers to help mothers and families on the local neonatal or postnatal ward, at Breastfeeding Drop-in groups or at baby clinics in the London boroughs of Islington and Tower Hamlets. The training’s main but not sole focus is on supporting families with babies on the neonatal ward therefore applicants who have had a baby on the neonatal unit of a hospital for any amount of time will be prioritised, but all applicants will be considered. BfN Helpers also support families and help normalise breastfeeding in their community by talking to children and young people about breastfeeding and supporting local breastfeeding welcome schemes.

Applicants need to have some experience of breastfeeding at least one baby. Applicants who have had a baby on the neonatal unit of a hospital for any amount of time will be prioritised but all applicants will be considered. Childcare may be arranged if there is enough demand.

Trainees are expected to commit to 1 year volunteering after the completion of the course.
