Job Title: Tutor (Helper to Supporter Course)
Salary: £15.91 per hour plus £2.39 RUHP
Number of posts: Dependent on the final number of Helpers meeting the criteria and able to attend training at the required times.
Type of contract: This will either be an annualised hours contract or ad hoc zero hours dependent on no of Tutors and timings

Job information: The National Breastfeeding Helpline (NBH)’s independent and quality-assured information and support to breastfeeding mothers, parents and families was provided to almost 43,000 calls were made to the NBH and this figure is rising. The Office for Health Inequalities and Disparities (OHID) has asked BfN to deliver an exciting new pilot project to extend the hours of when women and families can access, often life-changing support, to 24 hours per day. BfN is staffing a night-time rota with NBH@ Night Helpline Team Members, all of whom are expected to help us uphold the high standards for which the existing service is known. Apart from recruiting existing trained peer supporters and ABM Breastfeeding Counsellors, we intend to recruit BfN trained Helpers (and ABM equivalent) from areas of high deprivation and minoritised racial backgrounds to train from helper level, whilst employed by BfN. This is a wonderful opportunity to innovate and adapt your training expertise to deliver a condensed 4 week course with assessment that prepares trainees to take their first calls at the time of a March launch, and continued training and development of skills and confidence over the following month to 6 weeks. Recruitment of a night-time team is underway at the moment and we will need good availability and flexibility from selected Tutors, recognising that precise numbers of trainees will continue to be firmed up at this time. Interested tutors will have capacity to prepare, run and mark the all/ some of the course. BfN’s Board has also agreed and encouraged that approved BfN and ABM tutors work together on the delivery of this training. BfN tutors will lead and ensure that BfN’s course content continues to be delivered, aligned to OCN quality assurance requirements.
