PEER SUPPORT SERVICE

Southwark

It takes a village to raise a child and in Southwark, we’re building ours together.

Parenting can be one of the most rewarding journeys in life, but it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and sometimes lonely. That’s why we’re creating a supportive “village” right here in Southwark  a peer support network where families can connect, share, and lean on one another. At the heart of this village is The Breastfeeding Network, commissioned by Southwark Council to provide free, non-judgmental, evidence-based baby feeding information and support to every family in the community. Whether you’re preparing for the arrival of your baby, navigating those first few weeks, or finding your rhythm months or even years down the line, our team is here to walk alongside you.

Our trained peer supporters and volunteers understand the ups and downs of feeding because many of us have been there ourselves. We’re here to cheer you on, listen without judgment, and offer practical guidance tailored to your unique situation.

No matter your feeding journey, you are welcome here:

  • Preparing for birth and thinking about feeding
  • Exclusively breastfeeding or chestfeeding
  • Expressing milk or combination feeding
  • Supporting a newborn or a toddler
  • Beginning or ending your breastfeeding journey
  • Processing and debriefing experiences from the past

We recognise that every family’s story is different, and every parent deserves to feel supported, respected, and empowered in the choices they make.

Our service is always growing and evolving. Join our community events and drop-ins where you can connect with others. To keep up with our latest news, updates, and training opportunities, make sure to follow us on social media (links below).

You don’t have to do this alone. Your Southwark village is here for you.
