Job Title: Community Peer Supporter (Stoke on Trent)

Salary: £10.90 per hour

Number of Posts: 1

Type of Contract: Fixed Term to 31/08/2024

Start Date: September 2023

Hours of Work: 4.5 hours per week

Work Location: Home (with access to internet for admin) and various community venues across Stoke on Trent

Responsible to: Programme Manager

Job Information:

The Breastfeeding Network have been awarded funding by Stoke on Trent Start for Life to increase their current breastfeeding peer support service by delivering pop up/drop in sessions across the town at a variety of community venues  – eg playgroups, children’s centre baby groups, soft play buggy walks etc
The Peer Supporter will be a registered BfN Helper or Supporter who will attend different local activities each week to signpost parents to family hubs and also offer breastfeeding peer support.  They will organise pop up breastfeeding groups and social meet ups at appropriate venues. They will advertise the sessions on social media and through local health and parenting networks (working closely with the BfN Volunteer Coordinator) and report data to the project lead following IG policy and processes.  An important aspect of the role is collating feedback and adapting the sessions as necessary to improve our local offer.
