The Midlothian Breastfeeding Alliance brings together BFN trained supporters and NHS trained Peer Supporters.
When a group of likeminded women came together to form the Midlothian Breastfeeding Alliance, they commissioned the Breastfeeding Network to train 15 helpers, to volunteer alongside the Midlothian NHS volunteers who already run local groups and offer support to women.
The project is going from strength to strength and there are now groups on every day of the week. We also hope to start a walk and talk group in the autumn where families can come together to share experiences, enjoy a walk and finish up in a café for refreshments.
Supported by Midlothian Voluntary Action and working as a team with the NHS volunteers, they are very keen to become more involved in the area and it is hoped that another helpers course will run in due course.
