Job Title:  Tutor (Lambeth Helper’s Course)

Salary:  £15.15 per hour plus rolled up holiday pay £2.27 per hour

Hours of work:

76 hours, one 2-hour class taught over 12 weeks, with time factored in for holiday periods and marking / evaluation and  an initial newly qualified helper supervision. Dates to be agreed in advance, avoiding school holidays

Work location: Home for prep/admin and virtual/video supervision sessions.  If the Tutor is local, sessions will be face to face sessions at a Lambeth children’s centre.

Job information:

We are looking for a BfN Tutor to deliver Helper Course in Lambeth, South London. We’d love to deliver this in person, but will consider remote applications.

The Tutor is required to provide a regular supportive space for Helper trainee volunteers to thrive and connect during the course, offer guidance, encourage active volunteering and support their transition into the established local supervision group by leading their first supervision session as part of the handover to the local Supervisor (time for this session is included in the allocated hours).

It will be necessary to liaise with the Lambeth Service Lead, Deputy & Supervisor to work as a team and ensure dates don’t clash with other local key dates.

 Lambeth BfN Peer Support Service provides infant feeding support for all Lambeth families, as well as accredited training courses for mothers who wish to become breastfeeding peer supporters and volunteer with the Breastfeeding Network.

If a tutor is interested, but unable to commit to the dates advertise, please advise if dates can be renegotiated. It is the responsibility of the Tutor / Supervisor – to facilitate and ensure the prompt completion of all required steps throughout the Helpers course to enable trainees to be registered as volunteers upon completion of the training course (e.g. references, DBS checks, OCN registration and liaising with Lead Internal Moderation Officer
