What Is A Supporter?

BfN Registered Breastfeeding Supporters are mothers who have breastfed their babies. They have had training and continue to receive support, supervision and further training to maintain the quality of their work. Find out how to train as a BfN Supporter.

Your Supporter can:

  • Give you information on breastfeeding before you have your baby.
  • Help you start and continue breastfeeding.
  • Listen if something troubles you.
  • Discuss, weaning, returning to work or moving on from breastfeeding.

A Supporter offers a free and confidential service and can be contacted through the National Breastfeeding Helpline. The National Breastfeeding Helpline is available from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm, 365 days a year, on 0300 100 0212.
