General Information |
Busy centre where you can meet other mums. If you arrive before 12.30pm you can place an order for lunch which will be collected for you at around 1pm. Tea / coffee / squashes for 50p. Two BfN Registered Breastfeeding Supporters or Helpers are on hand for help and support, and a Health Visitor attends sometimes too. There are books for loan and breastfeeding resources available. Group discussions each week. The group has developed list of places where mums have breastfed comfortably in the area and awarded certificates. Group has put together a sheet of tips for new mothers, and a compilation of the best and worst of breastfeeding. Supporters and mums go into local antenatal classes to talk about the realities of breastfeeding, and into high schools to work with teenagers. There are 5 peer Breastfeeding Helpers in outlying villages who have been trained as part of outreach work from the centre. Every session at the centre is evaluated and fully audited.
